In order to create 1,000 employment per state in the Niger Delta, NDDC has launched the Portal HOPE program.
NDDC 1,000 Jobs/Skills in Each Niger Delta State
A new program to empower the youth of the Niger Delta area has been launched, according to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Through strategic alliances and skill development, the effort, known as HOPE—which stands for Holistic Opportunity Projects of Engagement—aims to produce 1,000 jobs in each state.
The NDDC’s MD/CEO, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, said in a speech at the project HOPE launch today, July 12, 2023:
“Today marks a new dawn in the NDDC as we are beginning out project HOPE to impact the lives of youngsters in the Niger Delta. It will be comprehensive and sustainable, making it holistic.
We strongly advise every young person in the Niger Delta to take advantage of this initiative and sign up using the database since it is a novel strategy that is in line with the needs of the modern world.
All entrepreneurs from the Niger Delta are urged to sign up and take advantage of this opportunity.
The recent rebellion of the region’s youth, who articulated their demands for empowerment, jobs, and worries, prompted HOPE, according to Dr. Ogbuku.
He said that the kids participated in an interactive session with the NDDC where they addressed their problems, solutions, and suggestions.
Dr. Ogbuku claims that HOPE would create a comprehensive digital repository including essential details about the young in the Niger Delta, such as their credentials, talents, interests, needs, and present work status.
According to him, this database will work as the cornerstone for data-driven planning, enabling the creation of effective youth-focused policies and activities.
HOPE will provide focused skill development efforts, encourage collaborations with local and international organizations, and advance sustainable development, according to Mr. Charles Ogunmola, executive director of projects, who also spoke at the occasion.
He pointed out that HOPE would promote an environment of openness, which would increase trust between the commission and the communities in the Niger Delta.
Additionally, Mr. Ogunmola described the two-phased implementation method for HOPE. He explained that creating, designing, and deploying a digital platform will be the first steps in the process of enabling data gathering, analysis, and policy creation for NDDC.
He said that through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) methods, the following phase will witness data population, employment creation, and regional industrialization.
Mr. Ogunmola expressed his confidence that HOPE will have a revolutionary impact on the area by giving a comprehensive grasp of the abilities, aspirations, and needs of the youth population in the Niger Delta and by swiftly and successfully addressing youth unemployment.
Youths from the area were invited by Dr. Ogbuku and Mr. Ogunmola to register their interests and skills on the HOPE website. They told them that HOPE would match them with suitable employment prospects.
Additionally, they urged both the public and business sectors to promote HOPE by giving young people jobs.
They declared in their conclusion that HOPE is a bold movement that would transform the region’s history from one of agitation and discontent to one of peace and prosperity.
